Designing Subliminal Messages Archives

Mixing Subliminal Audio Tracks

One of the most important aspects when creating either a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal audio recording is to ensure that the volume or amplitude of the message, sound, masking or brainwave tracks be set at the correct level. This article discusses what these levels should be and why the quality of your recording depends on it.

Although not exactly the same as loudness, amplitude is closely related to it and is measured using the decibel scale. Once you have created the supporting tracks to be used in the final recording, the amplitude or decibel level of each will have to be adjusted before mixing the tracks together. How this is done is dependent on the type of recording and is completely different for subliminal, supraliminal and paraliminal recordings.

Subliminal Recordings and Amplitude

By definition, a subliminal recording is a mixture of two audio tracks, one presenting the message statements and a second that acts as a masking track. The messages must be perceptible by the brain, but not quite audible to the conscious mind. The masking track is completely audible and also acts to make the recording sound more interesting to the ear.

When you first build the audio message track, it should be at a normal level of volume and this is necessary in order to verify that the message statements have been created properly. It is also important that whether you record your own message statements or generate them using text-to-speech software that they sound consistent.

By consistent it is meant that the amplitude or loudness of each statement be at the same level. Also, the speed and manner in which the message statements are presented should be reasonably slow and sound calm and relaxing. The best strategy when creating the message track is to pretend that you are talking to a young child.

The masking audio track should also be consistent and be relaxing to the listener. Sound clips that are erratic in volume and have many highs and lows in loudness are not recommended in any way. Using relaxing music or nature sounds is a much better choice.

Once you have built both the audio message and masking sound tracks and are satisfied with them, you will have to consider adjusting their level of volume or amplitude before mixing them together to create the final recording. The difference in amplitude between the message track and the masking track should be approximately 15 decibels, but this can vary either way by several decibels.

A common mistake made by people new to creating subliminal recordings and unfortunately even some companies that sell them is that they reduce the amplitude of the message track by too large a degree. Instead of reducing it by 15 decibels, it may be lowered it by as much as 30 to 40 decibels. In doing so, they may make the message statements physically inaudible and effectively render the final recording useless.

The software program you choose in mixing your message and masking tracks will provide you with the ability to adjust amplitude levels and it may take repeated attempts before you arrive at just the right sound levels. Even though the software is precise in how this is done, the best judge should still be your ears.

It is suggested that you listen to each track and the potential final mixed recording repeatedly until you are satisfied that the messages can be heard and that they are not overwhelmed by the masking sound track. It will likely be necessary to greatly increase the volume of the sound system of your computer in order to do this.

Supraliminal Recordings and Amplitude

With a supraliminal recording, both the message track and the accompanying sound track are designed to be completely audible. It is also important that the message track include a short initial segment designed to relax the body and optionally, the mind of the listener.

But even though both the message and accompanying sound track should be audible, it does not mean that they should be mixed at the same level of amplitude. This is an often overlooked point when building supraliminal recordings.

As with a subliminal audio recording, both the message and sound tracks should be created in the best way possible. Aside from the additional introductory relaxation segment in the message track, there is no difference between a subliminal and supraliminal recording except for the amplitude levels of the supporting audio tracks.

How they are mixed is important and it is suggested that you adjust the amplitude of each track appropriately. If you have created both the message and sound tracks properly, then they should each be consistent in how they sound. They will likely be at approximately the same level of amplitude or loudness.

But before mixing the message and sound tracks together it is advised that you adjust the amplitude of the message track. The message statements should be audible, but they should seem almost like someone was politely and calmly speaking to you as you were falling asleep.

If the message track was created by applying the guidelines suggested previously for subliminal recordings, then it should be calm, relaxing and consistent. The same principles apply to the sound track that you decide to include in the final recording.

For a supraliminal recording the message track should be reduced in amplitude by approximately 5 decibels. The reason for doing this is so that even though both the message and sound tracks are audible, the message track will sound more comforting to the listener at slightly lower amplitude.

Paraliminal Recordings and Amplitude

A paraliminal recording is considerably different than a subliminal or supraliminal recording. It normally includes three or more different audio tracks instead of the two that are commonly used in subliminal or supraliminal recordings. The additional track included is a brainwave track and it is designed to induce a relaxed mental state by using binaural tones.

The brainwave track must be created using two channels or in stereo because it is usually necessary to present different sound frequencies to each ear in order to achieve the desired effect. The desired effect is to induce a state of mind so that the listener experiences an alpha, theta or delta brain experience. By doing so, the listener becomes more receptive to the message statements presented in the audio message track.

Each of the other audio tracks must also be created in stereo, because if one must be in stereo then the others must also be built in the same manner. The tracks included in the final recording must always be built using two channels.

The three tracks required, message, sound and brainwave, should also be adjusted with respect to their amplitude before mixing the final recording. The audio message track should be slightly lower in amplitude than the sound track by approximately 5 decibels.

The brainwave track should be slightly be above audible perception and be at least 20 decibels lower in amplitude than the sound track. The reason for doing this is that the binaural tones presented in the brainwave track can become irritating to the listener and there is no benefit in doing so.

Again, the best way to judge the volume or amplitude levels of each of the recording components is to listen carefully before you decide to mix them together.

In conclusion, it is highly important that you mix each of your supporting audio tracks in the best way possible. Part of this involves adjusting the volume, loudness or amplitude of them before attempting to mix them together when creating your final recording. Doing this may require additional time, but it is usually worth the effort involved and likely that the recordings you create will be more satisfying to your listeners.

A subliminal or any other type of self-help message statement can be written in either the first or second person perspective. Messages in the first person refer to statements worded such as “I am” and those in the second person perspective as “You are”. This article explains the differences between the two types and why you should consider using either or both when designing message scripts.

Message statements phrased as “I am” may not be as acceptable to the subconscious mind of your listener as those beginning with “You are”. The reverse can also be true and it depends on how receptive your listener is to subconscious change, and in what way. Since it is almost impossible to know this, a suggested basic strategy is to use both first and second person perspectives when creating your message script.

Reasons for Using the First Person Perspective

Some individuals may feel more comfortable listening to messages delivered from the first person perspective. This may be because of their past experiences and perhaps have been repeatedly told that “you will never do this”, “you can never be that”, or other similar remarks.

Subconscious memories of this can be carried forward into the present so that anyone stating to them that “You will …” may trigger resistance. The result could be that they would be hesitant to subconsciously accept any statement that tells them to do, be or act in a certain way when worded in the second person perspective.

If this were the scenario, a better choice would be to not use the second person perspective and consider rephrasing it in the first person. If you knew that your target listener had these issues, it would be preferable to phrase your message statements such as “I am …” In this way, you may encounter less resistance from their subconscious mind.

Reasons for Using the Second Person Perspective

It can also be the case that certain individuals do not think about themselves and the target subject in a positive way. This may arise from frequently repeating to themselves that “I can never be this”, “I will always be that”, or many other similar negative statements.

Self-criticism is perhaps the most powerful form or negative self-programming and regrettably occurs far too frequently with many people. The result of this can be that such individuals are less receptive to statements worded in the first person.

Being positively complimented and encouraged from another person’s perspective may make them more receptive about being able to achieve the target goal. For people with this challenge, it would likely be more suitable to use messages stated in the second person, such as “You are successful”.

Other Issues Related to Using the First or Second Person

Preferably, you already understand the differences between a subliminal, supraliminal and paraliminal recording. An important one is that supraliminal or paraliminal recording types are designed to induce a relaxed physical and mental state in the listener. While subliminal recordings can be listened to at any time, the other two types require listening in a relaxed environment.

As the listener becomes more relaxed, their subconscious resistance to any message should become lower as the recording progresses. The consequence of this is that message statements written in either the first or second person perspectives will also become more acceptable.

But because subliminal recordings do not attempt to make the listener more relaxed, any existing subconscious resistance will usually not change as the recording is being listened to. An exception to this would be if the listener is in a relaxing environment.

For this reason it is likely more important to use both first and second person message statements in a subliminal recording than it is in a supraliminal or paraliminal recording.

Mixing Both First and Second Person Perspectives

Including both first and second person message statements in your scripts is relatively easy to do. You need only create two different versions of each statement, one in the first person, and another from the second person perspective.

It is also important to present them in an alternating manner and this simply means that the initial statement is in the first person and the one following be in the second person perspective. You can reverse the order if you choose and there is no difference in doing so.

For example, instead of including only a message statement as “I am successful”, it is suggested to follow this with an additional statement in the second person perspective such as “You are successful”.

This should always be done with a subliminal recording and likely beneficial to do when creating message scripts for supraliminal or paraliminal recordings. But there is a downside to including message statements in both the first and second person.

If you created a message script that perhaps included 30 different statements, then just by adding additional statements in the second person would mean that the length of the script would be twice the size, or 60 statements.

The length of your message script is important as are other considerations with regard to using present or future tenses, and addressing sub-themes when designing the message statements. Complying with these will increase the length of the message script. You will need to consider each of these aspects in order to achieve the correct balance.

Fully understanding the mind of the target listener is almost impossible and consequently, the best option may be to use both first and second person perspectives when writing your message script. This should be done in conjunction with other suggestions as to sub-themes, using tenses properly and related guidelines.

To summarize, there is no way to be certain that the message script of your recording will be able to help all of your potential listeners. By targeting one specific type of listener you may be ignoring the other. You should strive to write you message script so that a balance is achieved.

One important way to do this is to incorporate the use of message statements presented in either the first person or second person perspective. Designing statements with this in mind may help a greater number of people in different scenarios. This can only serve to make your recordings both more effective and acceptable to your potential audience.

How can I help?

My mother is extremely overweight, and she is getting older. I have tried to encourage her to do some hypnosis, and listen to some subliminal recordings, which would get her back on track (they helped me), but she refuses, stating that they’re “stupid”.

How can I encourage her to get back on track before it’s too late?

Do People Really Get Over Depression?

I was diagnosed as depressed over a decade ago. I felt that way long before being diagnosed. I’ve done so many things to get past it. I’ve done years of therapy. I’ve done several medications in several different doses. I’ve tried focusing on the positive. I’ve tried acting as if. I’ve tried positive self talk. I am moving up and establishing myself. I’ve tried hypnosis, affirmations, subliminal recordings, but I’ve never felt not depressed I don’t think, even for a minute.

Has anyone used binaural beats and have they had any effect. Any info on this is appreciated.

How Long Should a Subliminal Recording Be?

Choosing the length of a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording is an issue that is most often misunderstood. There are several topics related to this such as the length of the message script, message track and how they should be built. It is to your advantage and your potential listeners that you understand these issues before designing and building your recordings.

Each type of recording requires an audio message track which is created using the message script that you should already have written in the best way possible. There are other articles available that describe how to do this properly, and it is suggested that you read further about using the proper tense, permissive and directive statements, first and second person perspectives, avoiding negative words or phrases and various others.

Message Script Length

After the message script has been written and recorded or generated, it will usually be several minutes in length. This short audio message segment should be mixed repeatedly when building the final message track. You may have more than one if deciding to use both male and female voices.

Exactly how long this audio message segment is depends on how many message statements there are in the script and how they are recorded or generated. Your message script should include between 50 and 60 statements, and always be presented in a relaxing and calm voice.

Each statement will likely be about five seconds in audio length and this means that twelve statements could be created for each minute (5 seconds x 12 statements = 60 seconds). If there were 60 messages and each took five seconds then this would mean that that the message clip would be approximately five minutes in length (60 statements x 5 seconds = 300 seconds).

Message Track Length

However, a five-minute message segment is not long enough when creating any type of message track. The audio message clip will have to be repeated several times in order to build an audio message track that is approximately 30 minutes in length.

The short message clip that has been created will have to be sequentially mixed so that it reaches approximately 30 minutes. This means that if the original clip was 5 minutes in length, then 6 copies of them placed one after another would result in an audio message track that approaches 30 minutes in length.

If different voices were used in creating the message segments, then it is suggested to use them when mixing the final message track. For instance, if the same message script was used to record or generate audio segments with a male and then a female voice, you could build the message track by sequentially mixing the male voice segment followed by the female voice segment. This could be done repeatedly until the suggested length of 30 minutes is approximately reached.

An advanced strategy when mixing the message track is to present different message segments simultaneously in each of the left and right audio channels. This usually requires having already created message segments with both female and male voices. Instead of sequentially combining them, they would be inserted in parallel into the left and right audio channels. The advantage of doing so is that the listener will hear all the messages twice within the same length of time.

Repetition at the Subject Level

In order for a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording to achieve the target goal of introducing change to the subconscious mind, the messages provided must be repeated. This is done on different levels and it is important to both understand and accomplish this in the best way possible.

At the basic level, the message scripts you design will contain statements that are similar and address the goal desired. These could relate to success, fitness, relationships or any number of topics. The important point is that at the subject level, they target the same goal but from different perspectives.

For example, if the desired goal involved weight loss, there are several aspects to consider. This could involve proper eating habits, motivation to exercise, loving oneself and likely other issues.

Even though the statements will be different, they should be designed so that they address the same target issue but from different angles. This form of repetition at the subject level is extremely important and should always be a consideration when designing your message scripts.

Repetition at the Track Level

At the next level, these recorded or generated audio message statements will be combined when building the final message track. By doing so, another level of repetition is provided and this is accomplished by sequentially mixing the audio message segments or as suggested previously, combining them in parallel using both left and right audio channels.

The message segments you have recorded or generated should be mixed in the best manner to build the final audio message track. This may involve using different voices segments but regardless, the statements should be repeated several times as a group.

Repetition at the Listener Level

Once the audio message track has been built, there is only one more layer that involves repetition. This is up to the listener and how they decide to play the recordings that you have created for them. They can easily choose to set their playback device to repeat the recording and this should be suggested to them.

Although the length of the message track is recommended to be approximately 30 minutes, this can be increased if desired. However, this is not necessary because the messages presented are already repeated several times and the final recording can easily be set to play back continuously, perhaps even for many hours if preferred. Also, this represents only one listening session, and it is highly likely that the listener will be playing the recordings every day and possibly for weeks until the desired subconscious changes take effect.

A recording of greater length also requires additional storage space, and although this may not matter for a few recordings, it will have an impact if you are creating many recordings. Remember that it is necessary not only to store the final recordings, but each of the tracks used in building them as well as the audio message segments.

Sound and Brainwave Tracks

Once you have built the audio message track, the audio segments for sound or brainwave audio tracks will have to be created. Depending on the type of recording that you decide upon, it may require additional effort to either record or generate these.

The length of any additional sound or brainwave tracks should be dependent on the length of the final audio message track. If the final audio message track was built so that it was approximately 30 minutes in length, then the accompanying sound or brainwave tracks should be created so that they are also of the same duration.

The reason for doing this is to ensure that the final recording provides as many helpful messages as possible. If the audio message track was 30 minutes in duration but the accompanying sound or brainwave tracks were 35 minutes in length, this can be a potential problem.

In this case, there would be five minutes of time in the recording in which no messages would be presented to the listener. Other than having the effect of perhaps relaxing the listener, no messages would be presented and obviously have no effect in helping them.

You have many options when designing and building a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal audio recordings. One of the most important is deciding on the length of the recording. The duration of your final recording should be aligned with the initial message audio track and any or all of the additional sound or brainwave tracks. Doing this will only serve to help your listeners and increase the value that you receive from them.

An important consideration when designing your subliminal message scripts is to know how to use the present and future tenses correctly. Equally important and related, is to understand the use of directive and permissive statements. These concepts can be of benefit and this article discusses why and how to use them properly when writing your messages scripts.

Messages statements in the present tense simply act to suggest that the desired condition already exists, such as “I am confident”. Statements in the near or present future style indicate that the target goal is being achieved as for example, “I am becoming more confident”.

If you completely and fully understood exactly what the subconscious mind of your target listener contained, it would be much easier to know which tense to use and when. Unfortunately, this is virtually impossible, even when designing a custom subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording for a specific individual that you know extremely well, which may even be you. The best that can be achieved is to compromise and use both tenses.

Different Subconscious Minds Require Different Tenses

The subconscious mind of one person may be less receptive to change than another. Even for one particular individual their subconscious resistance may vary among topics. A person who is wealthy but overweight may have no difficulty embracing subliminal messages targeting abundance but be highly resistant to statements regarding weight loss.

Those with higher subconscious resistance to change will be less likely to be affected by message statements in the present tense. Using a statement such as “I am confident” may not have as powerful an effect as desired. A person that has lower subconscious resistance may find the same message statement more acceptable.

Using message statements that are in the near future tense such as “I am becoming more confident” will likely have more impact on those with a stronger subconscious resistance to change.

Since you will likely be unable to determine the subconscious resistance level of your potential listener, a reasonable choice is to use both tenses and in a balanced manner.

Instead of using either present or near future tense, you should consider using both in equal frequency and in an alternating fashion. In this way you are targeting both the stubborn and not so stubborn subconscious minds of your potential listeners.

Using Permissive and Directive Messages

Another way to consider message statements relates to how permissive or directive they are. This is similar to using either the present or near future tense but still somewhat different.

Some of your target listeners may be more receptive to message statements that command them to be or do something. Others may subconsciously require permission before embracing any messages.

A directive statement will serve to command the subconscious mind to adopt the message statement. A permissive statement will suggest that the idea is acceptable and then present it accordingly.

An example of a normal message statement in the present tense is “I am confident”. A directive and more commanding statement would be “I am confident now and always”. The tense is the same, but the manner in which the statement is phrased is significantly more commanding.

A more permissive example of this would be “I allow myself to be confident”. Instead of commanding, the statement merely suggests that it is acceptable to permit oneself to be more confident.

People who are accustomed to being in control of most of their life scenarios may dictate that you incorporate more permissive statements in your message script. Even so, there are others that may readily accept directive subliminal commands.

Since you will be unable to probe the subconscious mind of your target listener, the obvious and preferred choice is to use both permissive and directive statement types in you message script. In this way, you are targeting both types and balancing them correctly will only make your recording more effective for a greater number of people.

Never Use the Future Tense in Message Statements

Using the near future tense with respect to “I am becoming” is acceptable, but including message statements such as “I will become” is not advisable. The future tense should never be used because it implies that the desired goal will always be out of reach.

It is almost effortless for the conscious mind to consider a statement in the future tense, but the subconscious mind is much simpler and does not have the ability to understand anything beyond what is occurring now.

A message statement worded as “I will become more confident” implies that the goal will only be achieved at some point in the future. For the subconscious mind that future never arrives, and it is thus far better for your listeners that you avoid using the future tense in your message statements.

Guidelines for Using Tenses and Directive or Permissive Statements

At this point you should understand enough about using different tenses and either directive or permissive statements in your message script. But now you need to learn how to apply these guidelines properly in your message script.

To help do this, an example target recording topic is used and this is about increasing self-confidence. The goal is to apply the strategies previously discussed and in the best way. Using only one statement as a start, there are six different variations of it that could be used, as described below.

  • Present only: “I am confident”
  • Present and directive: “I am confident now and always”
  • Present and permissive: “I allow myself to be confident”
  • Near future only: “I am becoming more confident”
  • Near future and directive: “I am becoming more confident in every way”
  • Near future and permissive: “I allow myself to become more confident”

It is important to note that these are variations of just one statement, and you will be using other statements that target the same topic. Also, you will need to include both first and second person versions of any message statement in your final script.

To summarize, understanding the importance of different tenses and directive or permissive statements will only help you to design and write better message scripts. Doing so will also ensure that your subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recordings are more effective for the target subject, and for a greater variety of listeners, no matter how resistant their subconscious minds may be.

The message script of a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording is the foundation on which all other components are built. An important aspect of designing it is to ensure that the use of negative words and phrases is avoided.  This article explains what these are and how to ensure your message statements are always written in a positive manner.

When designing any type of message script, you may unintentionally use words, terms or phrases that do not send the correct message to the subconscious mind of your listener. Words often considered harmless can actually reduce the desired effect of the recording. In addition to words, there are also contractions, conditional words, terms and phrases that should never be used.

Words and Contractions to Avoid

Some obvious negative words to avoid using in any message statements are not, never, and related contractions such as can’t, or won’t. Unfortunately, there are many others and it can be difficult to know all or even most of them. To save you time, presented below is a list of the most important words and contractions you should not use when writing your message statements.

  • Against, Afraid, Angry, Anguish, Aren’t, Avoid
  • Banish, Barren
  • Can’t, Cautious, Closed, Concerned
  • Danger, Didn’t, Dislike, Don’t, Doubtful
  • Envy, Envious, Evil
  • Failure, Fear, Fearful, Furious
  • Gloom, Gone, Greed, Gross
  • Hate, Haven’t, Hesitant
  • Isn’t, Impossible, Improbable
  • Just, Justified
  • Last, Lose, Loser, Losing, Lost
  • Missing, Missed, Mistake
  • Never, No, Not
  • Obstacle, Opposed
  • Punish, Pain, Painful, Painless
  • Queasy, Questionable
  • Retarded, Restricted
  • Scared, Secret, Sick, Suspect, Suspicious
  • Terrified, Tormented
  • Unable, Unhealthy, Unlikely, Unwilling
  • Why, Won’t, Wouldn’t

This represents only some of the words, variations or contractions to be avoided, and there many others that you will likely discover. If you are uncertain as to the meaning of a word, either look it up or avoid using it entirely. Also, there is no reason to use complex words because the subconscious mind will not understand them, and simpler is definitely better.

Conditional Terms and Phrases to Avoid

In addition to understanding what words or contractions not to use in a message script, there are also conditional terms and phrases that should be avoided. They are considered conditional because the outcome is uncertain and dependent on something else happening first.

The subconscious mind does not understand the nature of the past or the future, as does the conscious mind. It can only comprehend the present and because of this, conditional message statements will likely have no effect in achieving the desired goal of the recording.

The best example of the most important conditional word to avoid is “if”. Using it implies that the desired result can only be achieved when something else occurs first. Since the subconscious mind is unable to understand the future, it will ignore that part of the statement.

There are specific words, terms and phrases that are conditional, but this may not always be obvious. A list of words, terms and phrases that are considered to be conditional is provided below.

  • After
  • Before
  • But
  • Conditional, Could
  • Depending on
  • Even though
  • However
  • If
  • May
  • Once this
  • Perhaps
  • Prior to
  • Upon
  • What if
  • When
  • Will
  • Would

Using any of these words or phrases presents a possible future based on a previous event that may never happen. What is preferable is to project and state a specific future to the subconscious. This cannot be done by using statements that are worded as conditional.

The subconscious mind must be presented with statements describing the goal as already achieved or that it is in the process of being achieved. Designing messages worded in the form “I am”, or “I am becoming” is much more desirable.

Dangers of Poorly Written Message Statements

Since the subconscious mind does not understand negative or conditional words in a message, it will essentially ignore them. For example, if your intention was to design a subliminal recording to help people quit smoking and did not follow the suggested guidelines, you may initially write a message statement such as “I don’t smoke”.

The subconscious would ignore the negative word and receive the message as “I smoke”. If a similar statement was worded conditionally as “If I smoke I may get sick”, the subconscious would translate this into “I smoke, I get sick”.

At a minimum, this would render the messages ineffective and not help achieve the target goal. In the extreme, the message statements may actually make the situation worse. This is the most important reason for ensuring that certain words are never used when writing your message scripts.

To summarize, it is to your advantage and of benefit to your potential listeners that you become familiar with what words are better, and which words, terms or phrases should be avoided. Knowing this will only help you to design and build a more effective recording.

By following the guidelines presented here, you are also embracing a basic but important principle about creating self-help recordings. Each and every recording, whether subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal, should always be designed so that it helps the listener and does no harm in any way.

It may seem easier at times to choose negative words or conditional statements when writing message statements. Finding the right positive words to use can require some creativity at times, but if you strive to follow these guidelines, it will likely become easier to do as you gain more experience writing message statements.

Lastly, the message scripts you design should be written so that they follow not only the guidelines presented here, but others equally important. You should review how to use the first and second person perspectives, incorporating sub-themes and using the present or near present tense properly.

When designing your subliminal message script, you should always address important sub-themes related to the topic chosen. A sub-theme is any underlying issue that may be indirectly contributing to the problem. This article explains why you should do this, some of the more important sub-themes, and how to write message statements that properly target them.

Even though you will seek to design and create your message statements in the best way possible, you cannot always be certain that you are entirely targeting the root of the problem. Secondary issues pertaining to self-image, allowing change and loving oneself may be embedded in the subconscious mind of your potential listener.

For example, a person seeking to become fit and lose weight may possibly have one or more deeper subconscious blocks that prevent them from doing so. A negative experience from early childhood such as having been repeatedly told that they will always be fat may be even carried with them into adulthood.

They may feel subconsciously that they will always be unattractive, never be able to change, no one will ever love them and have low self-esteem. They could try many possible methods to overcome this, but each may be met with resistance by the subconscious mind unless the underlying issue or sub-theme is also addressed.

Include Message Statements about Love and Forgiveness

A few message statements relating to loving oneself should always be included in your message script, and preferably at the beginning. The reason for doing this is to make the subconscious mind more receptive to the subsequent messages targeting the chosen subject.

This should also include statements of forgiveness in that it is allowable to having made mistakes in the past and permissible to let go of them. Some suggested statements that you could use are as follows:

  • I love and respect myself completely
  • I love myself more with each passing day
  • I forgive myself for my mistakes
  • I let go of my problems easily

Inserting some of these statements in your message script will not detract from helping address the target subject and will only help resolve any potential underlying issues.

Include Message Statements about Embracing Change

Allowing oneself to change can be at times difficult, especially if the subconscious mind does not desire change of any type. Adding a few statements to your message script that target this is strongly advised.

The purpose of these additional subliminal message statements is to suggest that change is allowed and embraced. Examples of what you can and may wish to include are as follows:

  • I allow myself to change
  • It is acceptable for changes to happen in my life
  • I embrace changes in my life
  • Changes in my life are good for me

You need only consider including two or three statements in your message script that address this. These can be placed at any point in the script, but again it is suggested that you place them close to the beginning to reduce resistance from the subconscious mind to the subject messages that follow.

Include Message Statements about Self-Image

One of the most important sub-issues that you should address involves self-image. Many people having the problem that your recording will target may feel less than positive about themselves.

Including message statements that help them feel accepted at the subconscious level is suggested. It will also indicate to their subconscious mind that they are worthy and render it easier for the subject messages to be received. A few statements you may wish to include are below.

  • I feel good about myself
  • I can do anything I set my mind on
  • I am worthy of success
  • I am confident in my abilities

As with the other suggested statements about love and forgiveness or embracing change, these can be placed at the beginning of the message script. Another idea is to place them randomly within the script so that occasional positive messages targeting self-image are presented.

Combining Sub-Themes with the Target Subject

Addressing sub-themes in you message script may seem to be nowhere near as important as addressing the target subject. However, they should still be included as part of your message script design. Another important consideration is the number of sub-theme statements included in the final script.

Several statements that address each of the important sub-issues such as self-love, forgiveness, embracing change and self-image should be included. You can choose from any of the suggested ones above, or include those of your own. But it is important that these sub-issues not dominate the message script and act only to support underlying issues.

If your final message script contains between the suggested 60 and 70 statements then a portion of these should be focused on sub-theme issues. Including about 10 statements for sub-issues is reasonable and represents only about 15% of the total number of statements.

If you were to add perhaps six statements at the beginning of the script and inserted a few more self-image suggestions then your message script may appear as follows:

  • I love and respect myself completely
  • I forgive myself for my mistakes
  • I let go of my problems easily
  • I allow myself to change
  • It is acceptable for changes to happen in my life
  • I embrace changes in my life
  • SUBJECT MESSAGES
  • ….
  • ….
  • I am confident in my abilities
  • SUBJECT MESSAGES
  • ….
  • ….
  • I am worthy of success in every way
  • SUBJECT MESSAGES
  • ….
  • ….
  • I feel good about myself
  • SUBJECT MESSAGES
  • ….
  • ….
  • I can do anything I set my mind on
  • SUBJECT MESSAGES
  • …

This should not be difficult to do and will help your listeners, even if they do not have underlying target issues. Remember also that your message script, whether subliminal or any other type, will be repeated several times when you create the final message audio track. By including these sub-themes you are also providing an additional form of insurance that your recording will help achieve the desired effect.

To summarize, understanding and targeting sub-issues that may contribute to the problem that you message script addresses is important both to you as a creator and to your audience. You may even wish to create a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal audio recording that specifically address any of these sub-issues.

As long as you understand that underlying issues may exist in your target listener, then you should choose to include additional message statements that can help them. If you do, then your recordings will only be of a higher quality and likely more appreciated by your audience.

How to Design Subliminal Messages Using Lists

Once you have chosen a subject for your subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal audio recording and studied it, the next step is to begin designing the message statements.

Even if you have personally experienced the problem, it can still be difficult to start to design statements that will be effective in addressing the topic. This article explains how creating both negative and positive lists relating to your selected topic can help save you considerable time.

The purpose of the message statements is to reverse negative thoughts and feelings regarding the subject and introduce new ones to the subconscious mind. By first documenting a list of the negative items, it becomes much easier to write positive message statements.

Creating a List of Negative Thoughts and Feelings

If you understand your chosen topic properly, it should be reasonably easy for you to write down a list of how someone would feel if they had the problem being addressed. You should include in your list anything and everything that comes to mind when you focus on it, but more importantly what you are feeling.

As you do this, do not attempt to think too much about it and continue writing until you sense that you are done. You may and should return to this list to refine it, but you should be feeling as if you had the target problem even if having only researched it. If you have experienced the target problem personally, then creating this list will likely be simple to do.

Among the many possible topics for self-help subliminal or other recording types, one of the most popular involves losing weight. Although you may not choose this as a subject for your recording, it still acts as a powerful example. A partial list of the negative thoughts and feelings people addressing this challenge have are as follows:

  • I will always be overweight
  • I will never be attractive
  • I could never fit into smaller clothes
  • I wish people didn’t feel sorry for me
  • I hate the way I look
  • No one will ever love me the way I am
  • I can’t change the way I look
  • I don’t like to exercise
  • Eating makes me feel happy

You may feel anything from mild sympathy to strong emotions by only reading this short list of negative feelings that someone in this scenario experiences. In any case, understanding how your potential listeners feel will likely only help you in writing this list.

You may be able to create a longer list of negative characteristics with respect to this topic and whichever subject you select, this will simply aid you in designing your first list.

Convert the Negative to Positive

Once you have completed a list of as many negative thoughts and feelings associated with the topic of your recording, it is time to reverse them. But this should not be taken literally and you should be careful in how this is done.

The idea is to convert the meaning of the negative statements and rewrite them to achieve a list of desirable statements. This may take a few attempts, but a first effort at doing this is listed below, and is written to express what a person with this challenge would prefer.

  • I want to be at my ideal weight
  • I desire to be attractive
  • I would like to easily fit into smaller clothes
  • I want people to admire me
  • I want to like how I look
  • I would like to be loved as I am
  • I want to be able to change how I look
  • I desire to enjoy exercising
  • I would like to eat food that is good for me

This should not be considered to be the final version of what would be used in the subliminal or any other type of message track. It will be necessary to modify and revise these messages appropriately.

The next step you should follow is to convert these positive statements so that they are closer to being suitable for use in a subliminal or other type of message audio track. Instead of phrasing the statements as “I want” or “I would”, it is advised to rewrite them so that they are stated as “I am” or “I am becoming” or something similar.

Using the example list provided above, the result of the suggested transformation would be as follows:

  • I am becoming closer to my ideal weight
  • I am attractive in every way
  • It is becoming easier to fit into smaller clothes
  • People admire how I look
  • I now really like how I look
  • I am loved just as I am
  • Changing how I look is becoming easier
  • I know that exercise is good for me
  • I enjoy eating food that is healthy for me

Each statement has been changed so that it is more positive, appealing and receptive to the subconscious mind. But these sample message statements are not refined enough yet.

You should also consider sub-themes related to the topic, ideal message statement lengths, permissive or directive statements, and using first and second person perspectives.

In conclusion, understanding the subject of your recording is extremely important not only to you, but to your potential audience as well. Knowing what they feel and don’t want will help you in designing message statements more effectively.

An excellent and suggested way to do this is by writing lists of what they don’t want and then converting into a list of what they would prefer. Even though this may take some time, it is time well spent. After all, your goal is to create the most effective subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording and in the best way.

The very first stage of creating a subliminal or similar recording is to decide on a topic that will help your potential listeners. The number of subjects you can choose from is only limited by your creativity but even so, there are certain guidelines you should consider. This article explains what these are and how following them will benefit both your intended audience and you as a recording creator.

Any high-quality self-help recording will address a particular problem that some people have and strive to provide a solution that will work for them. In choosing a subject for your recording, you will need to identify an existing problem, learn about it and decide if you can and wish to provide a solution.

Identifying an Existing Problem

It is not difficult to recognize the many different problems that people have and seek help for. As well, it may seem obvious that the subjects you should choose for your recordings address popular self-help topics, such as losing weight, finding love, achieving success, increasing confidence and motivation or dozens of possible others.

But selecting any of these more popular self-help topics as your recording subject may not always be the wisest choice for you. There are many types of self-help audio recordings already available that likely deal with these problems and choosing a less fashionable topic may be of greater benefit to you in several ways.

Targeting a smaller number of people with a particular problem can work to your advantage in that there would be less competition. However, choosing a subject issue that is too specific is also not suggested.

For example, consider such problems that some people have about shyness, or another about being able to control anger. A simple Internet search will demonstrate that there are a significantly smaller number of self-help solutions that address these two problems compared to the highly popular subject of weight loss.

An example of a subject to choose that is possibly too specific would be overcoming the fear of rain, or as it is properly termed, Ombrophobia. There will likely be too small an audience of potential listeners for this to be worthwhile to you as a recording creator. Even so, if there is need for it, then someone will probably address it and may already have done so.

This does not suggest that you should never create recordings that address general or even highly focused subjects. If you only desire that your recordings help others, then you should do exactly that. But if you wish to market your recordings, you may wish to consider these guidelines.

Learn about the Problem

This is a common and often overlooked aspect when choosing a recording subject. Even though you may have identified an existing problem that targets neither too large nor too small an audience, you will need to understand more about the problem.

The message statements you design must be appropriate for the subject and the more you appreciate about the topic, the more suitable your message script will likely be.

Regrettably, the best manner in which to understand the problem is to have experienced it yourself. Knowing how it feels to having been in the same situation as your target listener will help you immensely in designing your recording. It may even be an advantage to use your own personal history in your recording descriptions.

Whether you have experienced the problem personally or not, you should consider writing a list of as many feelings that someone facing this issue would have. This can help you greatly when and if you decide to design the message script for your recording.

But there is no reason to overload yourself with information about the subject and doing so may completely overwhelm you. Learn enough so that you understand about how it feels to have the problem, but not so much that you lose your focus.

Decide to Provide a Solution

At this point, you will have to decide whether to proceed with creating the recording or not. There are a few additional items you should consider before you choose to continue.

You should have more than a casual interest in the target subject and not having this will likely be reflected in how your recording is designed and created. The stronger you feel about the subject, the more this is likely to be sensed and appreciated by your listeners.

Ironically, this may be delivered to them in a subliminal manner to their subconscious. There is no simple way to describe this, but you will understand it if you choose and create a recording for the right topic.

The reverse is also true in that they may detect if you didn’t understand or care enough about them and their problem. As a result, they may not wish to acquire another recording from you. Attempting to fool your customers in this way is ill-advised, because you may be the one that ends up being the fool.

From a business perspective, you should perform more than enough research so that you understand how large your target audience may be, and how to find them or even how to let them find you. You will need to create value for your listeners before you can receive value from them.

You should also be certain that you have the resources to create a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording for the chosen subject. Having the necessary knowledge, software and computer skills is assumed, but if you are lacking in these then do not continue until you have. Reading or reviewing How to Create Subliminal Recordings may help you.

To summarize, the subject that you choose for your self-help audio recording should be one that is neither too general nor too specific. It should also be one that you can and are willing to learn about, unless you already have first-hand experience with the issue. If you are creating recordings only for personal use, you should ensure that you will benefit from marketing and selling them.

Choosing a subject for your subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recordings does not have to be difficult and you may find it to be easer to do if you follow the guidelines provided here.

Types of Audio Subliminal Recordings

A true audio subliminal recording has a background audio track and a foreground audio track that are mixed together to create the final recording. The subliminal messages are contained within the message or background track.

This track is normally a recording of someone speaking short positive phrases related to the topic for desired change. It can also be created by using text-to-speech software which is explained in detail later.

If the subject area was related to weight loss, typical messages phrases could be “I eat sensibly”, “I exercise regularly”, “My body shape improves with each passing day”, “I eat foods that are good for my body”, and many possible others. It is extremely important that these message phrases be written and recorded properly and guidelines for doing this are provided.

In addition to the subliminal message audio track, there is also a foreground or masking track that is designed to distract the conscious mind so that you are not aware of the subliminal messages being spoken.

The masking or foreground track may contain sounds of nature such as a waterfall, ocean waves, birds chirping, or a simple rainfall. Classical or contemporary music without vocal lyrics can also be used.

Another related type of “subliminal” audio recording is not actually subliminal and is called supraliminal. With this type, the message track can easily be heard and is not masked in any way. The message track usually includes an introductory relaxation segment to guide the listener into a relaxed state.

In addition, an audio track is added that contains sounds designed to soothe you. This type of recording should not be listened to if it is necessary to consciously focus on a task you are performing, such as driving.

With both subliminal and supraliminal audio recordings, usually two audio tracks (message and sound) are mixed together. The major difference is the recorded volume levels of each track.

In subliminal recordings, the message track is significantly lower in volume than the foreground masking track. In supraliminal recordings, the volume levels for both tracks are essentially the same.

A third type of “subliminal” audio recording is again not truly subliminal and is called paraliminal. Three specially designed stereo audio tracks are mixed together to create the recording. A message track is used, but in this case will likely present different messages using both left and right audio channels.

The message track may also contain an introductory relaxation segment. A second sound track containing relaxing sounds of some type is also used. The third track is different in that it presents tones of different frequencies to each ear that cause the listener to enter a receptive alpha state in which brainwave activity slows down.

Designing Subliminal Messages – the Basics

The messages that are contained in a subliminal message track should be carefully designed before writing them and even recording a single word. It is to your benefit that you understand the best ways to do this. No matter how high the quality of the subliminal recording, if the messages are not designed properly they will be of little benefit to anyone.

Before thinking about the messages you wish to convey to the subconscious mind you should first consider the subject that you desire to see change in. Select the area that you are interested in and write down everything you like and also what you do not like about it as it relates to you.

If you are interested in making your body more fit and attractive then you should consider what it is that you do not currently like about your body. Make this your first list and afterwards, consider what you would prefer your body to look like and write a second list.

As an example, a list of some characteristics that you may not want with respect to your body could be as follows:

  • I do not want to be overweight any longer
  • I do not like being unattractive
  • I am tired of being unable to fit into my clothes
  • I do not like people looking at me with pity
  • I do not want to eat unhealthy foods
  • I do not like being unmotivated to exercise

Your second list or what you do want with respect to your body may be as follows:

  • I want to be slim and in great shape
  • I want others to see me as an attractive person
  • I want to enjoy wearing smaller dresses or pants
  • I want people to look at and admire me
  • I want to enjoy eating healthy foods
  • I want to enjoy exercising

Review and refine your two lists several times until you end up with your lists being almost mirror images of each other. If you were to turn the things you do not want into positive statements, they should be very close to what you wrote in your second list or vice versa.

By doing this you are confirming to yourself what you really do and do not want, in this case the topic being about your body. Your list of what you do want should also bring a smile to your face as your read it. If any item does not then it is likely not very important to you and you may wish to rewrite it.
