Using a Storage Strategy for Creating Subliminal RecordingsOne of the primary aspects of building a subliminal or related audio recording type involves managing each of the components.

Message scripts, masking sound clips, brainwave tracks and intermediate audio tracks should be organized and stored in an efficient manner.

Adopting a useful storage strategy makes it simpler to access and review any existing recording component. This is especially important when attempting to reuse existing elements for a new and different recording project.

Any reasonable and effective strategy can be used for storing the components of the recordings. At the highest level, a new folder should be created called RECORDING PROJECTS and within this, sub-folders created that reflect each of the categories suggested below.

  • Recording Project Name
  • Message Script Versions
  • Verbal Message Clips
  • Intermediate Message Segments
  • Sound and Masking Tracks
  • Brainwave Audio Tracks
  • Final Recording Versions
  • Compressed Audio Versions

Choosing the Recording Project Name

Subliminal Recording Project NameIt is important to choose a project name for a recording because the target name chosen becomes a focal point for each of the related components and makes it easier to locate them in the future.

If for example the selected recording target subject was Better Study Habits, then the project name could be the same and this is strongly recommended.

It is worthwhile to choose a short abbreviation for the project name and this should be based on the recording subject to make it easy to remember.

For this example of Better Study Habits, by using the first letter of each word the result is BSH. This short contraction can be used as the project prefix when naming most files in each of the steps when designing a self-help recording.

Message Script Versions

Designing a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal message script can take time and involve creating multiple versions. Each version should be saved because it is often difficult to determine which would be optimal.

Designing Message ScriptsMessage scripts begin as simple text files and starting with the first basic version, this should be an ordinary text file with the extension .TXT.

But there will likely be two types of message scripts; one for inducing relaxation and another for the subliminal message statements targeting the self-help goal.

Distinguishing between the two types can be accomplished by grouping them into separate folders that reflect their purpose such as RELAXATION and TARGET.

These can be included within a more general folder named MESSAGE_SCRIPTS. As the message scripts are further refined, it is suggested to save and name each version by adding the project contraction as a prefix and a version number as a suffix, such as BSH1.TXT, BSH2.TXT, etc.

By including the project prefix and version number in the file name, it is easier to remember which script is associated with any particular project.

Verbal Message Clips

Once the message script is designed satisfactorily, it will be required to either record it or generate it as a verbal audio segment. In either instance, it may be necessary to create multiple versions until the desired quality level is attained and the target goal should always be of primary importance.

Target Goal for Subliminal MessagesRegardless of how the final message script is converted into an audio format, it is important to understand that storing these different versions is highly important.

Verbal message sound clips should be stored in a folder that reflects their function.

This is suggested as VERBAL_MESSAGE_CLIPS. This would still be inside the project folder and serve to organize them efficiently.

These could be further categorized by separating them by function, as RECORDED_MESSAGES and GENERATED_MESSAGES, depending on how this is accomplished.

Within these folders, and using the same example project prefix, each of the recorded or generated sound message clips could be named as BSH_RECORDED1.WAV, BSH_RECORDED2.WAV, BSH_GENERATED1.WAV, BSH_GENERATED2.WAV, etc., and stored in the relevant folders.

Further categorization may be useful if using text-to-speech (TTS) software to generate verbal message clips. The type of voice engine and the voices chosen to do this may warrant separation by both these qualifiers.

Intermediate Message Segments

In the process of building the final audio subliminal (or similar) message track, it will be necessary to combine or mix the previously created individual verbal message clips in potentially different ways.

Mixing Audio and Subliminal MessagesWhen doing this, several intermediate versions will have to be created and it is important to save each one accordingly.

It is recommended to create a unique sub-folder or directory in which to store them.

In this way, the basic verbal message clips will not be confused with the intermediate audio message segments that become a mixture of them.

A suggestion is to place these intermediate audio segments in a folder or directory named INTERMEDIATE_MESSAGE_SEGMENTS. Also, each file created should be named so that it incorporates the project prefix and a version number.

A basic subliminal recording could have an introductory verbal relaxation segment followed by repeated verbal message segments.

After mixing them together appropriately, an intermediate version could be named BSH_MESSAGE1.WAV, BSH_MESSAGE2.WAV, etc.

Sound and Masking Tracks

A sound or masking track is a requirement for any recording type and must also be managed in a useful manner. As an advantage, the same sound track can effectively be used in different recordings.

Using Masking Sound TracksFor this reason, it is better to create a reasonable number of masking tracks that can be used in any type of recording.

However, there are personal preferences as to what sounds are acceptable and presenting more choices is always advisable.

A recommended strategy is to create and maintain a small number of sound tracks that can be used with respect to virtually any of the recordings.

A suggested folder for storing them is SOUND_TRACKS, whether recorded or generated in any manner.

Within the sound track folder, each file can be named according to the type of sound presented, such as NATURE1.WAV, WATERFALL2.WAV, BIRDS3.WAV, etc.

Brainwave Audio Tracks

Brainwave Recording OptionsA brainwave track is only necessary if you choose to create a paraliminal recording and as with the sound or masking tracks, it will likely only require creating a few different brainwave tracks.

These audio tracks should be kept in a separate folder and a suggested name is BRAINWAVE_TRACKS.

The brainwave related audio files should be named according to the effect they are designed to produce, such as ALPHA.WAV, THETA.WAV or possibly some mixture as ALPHA_THETA.WAV.

Final Recording Versions

Once the final recording is mixed by using the message track, sound track and potential brainwave track, it may still not be entirely complete and could require additional revisions and adjustments.

For this reason, creating a folder called FINAL_RECORDING should include each newly created version.

These could be named as in the prior example as BSH_FINAL_VERSION1.WAV, BSH_FINAL_VERSION2.WAV, etc.

Although it may consume more storage space, one or more versions of the final recording in the WAV format should always be saved.

Compressed Audio Versions

After creating the final subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording, it is important to consider the importance of compressing the audio recording in order to render it smaller in size while still retaining the same degree of quality.

Compressing the Audio SegmentsThere are several different methods available to compress the final recording, and in doing so, a different result will be created.

To accommodate this, it is suggested to create a separate folder or directory named COMPRESSED that includes these.

The files within this folder that are compressed may be of different types and as a result have different file extensions such as MP3, OGG, etc.

These files could be stored as BSH_FINAL1_COMPRESSED.MP3, BSH_FINAL2_COMPRESSED.OGG, and thus make it easier to distinguish between the original final recording and the compressed versions.

Suggested Storage Strategy for Recording Components

There are many ways to adopt a storage strategy for creating a subliminal or similar audio recording and an optimal one is provided below.

  • Recording Projects (Top-Level Folder)
    • Project Name (e.g. Better Study Habits – BSH)
      • Message Scripts (MESSAGE_SCRIPTS)
        • Relaxation Scripts (RELAX)
        • Target Scripts (TARGET)
      • Verbal Message Clips (VERBAL_MESSAGE_CLIPS)
      • Intermediate Message Clips (INTERMEDIATE_MESSAGE_SEGMENTS)
      • Sound and Masking Tracks (SOUND_TRACKS)
      • Brainwave Audio Tracks (BRAINWAVE_TRACKS)
      • Final Recording Versions (FINAL_RECORDING)
      • Compressed Audio Versions (COMPRESSED)

It is important to manage each of the components used in creating the recordings. Using a folder or directory structure to organize recordings and their components can only help to create better recordings and in an easier manner.

Downloading Subliminal Masking SoundsThere are different ways to acquire suitable sound clips to use in a building a masking or accompanying sound track for a subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording.

One option is to download them from various Internet web sites for free or perhaps at some cost.

What features to look for in an acceptable sound clip should be reviewed before deciding on any particular one.

The preferred features of an acceptable sound clip are grouped into the following categories and each is discussed below:

  • Type of Masking Sounds Available
  • Costs Involved
  • Recording Characteristics
  • Audio Format
  • Absence of Embedded Messages

Type of Masking Sounds Available

Generally, many of the sound segments available have been created using nature sounds. Audio clips of this type are highly recommended, since nature sounds are normally very relaxing to most people.

Types of Masking Sounds AvailableExamples of this could present ocean waves, rainfalls, waterfalls, birds or insects or various other types of sounds.

Other possible types include chimes, bells, classical music, rhythmic chanting, or a range of other themes.

As long as the recorded sound clip is relaxing and soothing, then it is most likely acceptable.

By this it is meant that there should not be any extreme high or low volume levels in the recording and that it should sound reasonably consistent.

The goal is to seek out a pre-recorded audio clip that would not upset the listener in any way and promotes a more relaxed physical and mental state.

Any personal preferences regarding the type of sounds presented in the audio clip should be put aside if you are creating recordings for other people.

As a recording creator, it is far more important that to consider what the potential listener would prefer to hear.

But if you are creating recordings primarily for your own use, then you should of course choose what is most suitable for you. As long as the sound clip is soothing, calm and relaxing, then you have likely made the right choice.

Even so, it is suggested that you remember that what is acceptable to you may not be to others.

Costs Involved for Sound Clips

You may choose to download free audio sound clips, but you should be extremely careful in how you select them. Most are usually short in length and not recorded in high quality.

Cost of Subliminal Masking Sound ClipsBut it is possible that you could find an acceptable free pre-recorded audio segment of reasonable quality, if you are patient and willing to search for them.

There are also many sound clips available if you are willing to pay the cost of obtaining them.

These can vary greatly in price but there is no reason to purchase an entire collection of relaxing nature sounds if you only require a few audio clips.

Another important consideration is whether there are royalty fees charged if you decided to purchase the sound clips and use them in building your masking or sound tracks.

Ideally, there should be no charge for doing so, and consequently it is extremely important to understand this.

Recording Characteristics of Sound Clips

Whether purchased or free of charge, the recorded clips should have certain physical characteristics.

This relates to the sampling frequency, the sample size, number of channels, and the recording format. It is assumed that the recorded clip has been created in a digital manner.

Sound Clip Recording CharacteristicsThe sampling frequency can vary greatly, but the preferred choice is 44,100 Hz. which is the same as that of a standard music CD.

Although sound clips can be created at a lower frequency, anything below 16,000 Hz is likely unacceptable.

The sample size is also important in that a 16-bit sample rate provides greater listening quality than an 8-bit sampling rate.

A recording that uses an 8-bit sample rate is approximately of the same quality as a telephone conversation. One that is encoded using 16-bit sample rate simply sounds better and this is preferred.

Selecting an audio sound clip that has been recorded with two channels (left and right) is a better choice than a mono recording.

Although twice as large in size, the recording may sound better with two different channels and be more entertaining for the listener.

Audio Format

Although there are various audio formats available, any one chosen should be uncompressed and have been recorded digitally. The preferred type is a recording clip that has been saved in the WAV format.

Compressed Audio FormatRecordings in the WAV format are uncompressed but still in a digital format.

Obtaining any type of sound clips that have already been compressed into an MP3, OGG or other type can make it more difficult to mix audio tracks in the final recording.

It is possible to compress recording components before building and mixing the final subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording, but this is not recommended.

The best time to apply audio compression techniques is after the recording has been finally mixed.

However, if you decide to obtain a recorded audio sound clip in a compressed format (e.g. MP3, OGG), it will have to be decompressed in order to mix it with other aspects of your final recording.

This can be reasonably easy to do with the proper audio mixing software, but should be avoided if possible.

Absence of Embedded Messages

Embedded Subliminal MessagesNo matter where the audio sound segments are obtained from, they must not contain embedded subliminal messages.

If they do, then this can affect the final recording and its ability to help the listener.

If you choose to purchase a sound clip or track, it is highly unlikely that it will contain any embedded subliminal messages.

However, if you download one at no cost then you should consider it possible that subliminal messages may have been planted in the recorded clip.

The easiest way to detect if embedded messages exist in a recording is to simply play the sound clip at a higher volume level and listen carefully.

To summarize, there are various choices available with respect to selecting a pre-recorded sound clip. You can download either free or not so free sound clips that can be used in building a masking or sound track.

As long as you cautious and observe these guidelines, it should be more than possible to find an audio sound clip that meets your needs.

There are also other options available such as recording or generating your own sound tracks which may be of benefit.

Designing subliminal message statements using listsOnce you have chosen a subject for your subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal audio recording and studied it, the next step is to begin designing the message statements.

Even if you have personally experienced the problem, it can still be difficult to start to design statements that will be effective in addressing the topic.

Creating both negative and positive lists relating to the selected topic can help save considerable time.

The purpose of the message statements is to reverse negative thoughts and feelings regarding the subject and introduce new ones to the subconscious mind.

By first documenting a list of the negative items, it becomes much easier to write positive message statements.

Creating a List of Negative Thoughts and Feelings

If you understand the chosen topic properly, it should be reasonably easy to write down a list of how someone would feel if they had the problem being addressed.

Create a List of Negative Thoughts and FeelingsYou should include in the list anything and everything that comes to mind when you focus on it, but more importantly what you are feeling.

As you do this, do not attempt to think too much about it and continue writing until you sense that you are done.

You may and should return to this list to refine it, but you should be feeling as if you had the target problem even if having only researched it.

If you have experienced the target problem personally, then creating this list will likely be simple to do.

Among the many possible topics for self-help subliminal or other recording types, one of the most popular involves losing weight. Although you may likely not choose this as a subject for your recording, it still acts as a powerful example.

A partial list of the negative thoughts and feelings people addressing this challenge have are as follows:

  • I will always be overweight
  • I will never be attractive
  • I could never fit into smaller clothes
  • I wish people didn’t feel sorry for me
  • I hate the way I look
  • No one will ever love me the way I am
  • I can’t change the way I look
  • I don’t like to exercise
  • Eating makes me feel happy

You may feel anything from mild sympathy to strong emotions by only reading this short list of negative feelings that someone in this scenario experiences. In any case, understanding how potential listeners feel will likely only help you in writing this list.

You may be able to create a longer list of negative characteristics with respect to this topic and whichever subject you select, this will simply aid you in designing the first list.

Convert the Negative Statements to Positive Statements

Convert Negative Statements to Positive StatementsOnce you have completed a list of as many negative thoughts and feelings associated with the topic of your recording, it is time to reverse them.

But this should not be taken literally and you should be careful in how this is done.

The idea is to convert the meaning of the negative statements and rewrite them to achieve a list of desirable statements.

This may take a few attempts, but a first effort at doing this is listed below, and is written to express what a person with this challenge would prefer.

  • I want to be at my ideal weight
  • I desire to be attractive
  • I would like to easily fit into smaller clothes
  • I want people to admire me
  • I want to like how I look
  • I would like to be loved as I am
  • I want to be able to change how I look
  • I desire to enjoy exercising
  • I would like to eat food that is good for me

This should not be considered to be the final version of what would be used in the subliminal or any other type of message track. It will be necessary to modify and revise these messages appropriately.

Revise and Improve the Positive Message Statements

Revising and Improving Message Script StatementsThe next step you should follow is to convert these positive statements so that they are closer to being suitable for use in a subliminal or other type of message audio track.

Instead of phrasing the statements as “I want” or “I would”, it is advised to rewrite them so that they are stated as “I am” or “I am becoming” or something similar.

Using the example list provided above, the result of the suggested transformation would be as follows:

  • I am becoming closer to my ideal weight
  • I am attractive in every way
  • It is becoming easier to fit into smaller clothes
  • People admire how I look
  • I now really like how I look
  • I am loved just as I am
  • Changing how I look is becoming easier
  • I know that exercise is good for me
  • I enjoy eating food that is healthy for me

Each statement has been changed so that it is more positive, appealing and receptive to the subconscious mind. But these sample message statements are not refined enough yet.

Targeting the Subliminal Goal ProperlyYou should also consider sub-themes related to the topic, ideal message statement lengths, permissive or directive statements, and using first and second person perspectives in order to target the goal in the best manner.

Understanding the subject of your recording is extremely important not only to you, but to the potential audience as well.

Knowing what they feel and don’t want will help you in designing message statements more effectively.

An excellent and suggested way to do this is by writing lists of what they don’t want and then converting into a list of what they would prefer.

Even though this may take some time, it is time well spent. After all, your goal is to create the most effective subliminal, supraliminal or paraliminal recording and in the best way.

A subliminal or similar type of self-help message script statement can be written in either the first or second person perspective.

First and Second PerspectivesMessages in the first person refer to statements worded as “I am” and those in the second person perspective as “You are”.

It is important to understand the difference between the two perspectives and whether to consider using either or both when designing message scripts.

Message statements phrased as “I am” may not be as acceptable to the subconscious mind of a listener as those beginning with “You are”.

The reverse can also be true and it depends greatly on how receptive the listener is to subconscious change, and in what manner.

Using the First Person Perspective

Certain individuals may subconsciously be more comfortable listening to messages delivered from the first person perspective.

Understanding First and Second PerspectivesThis may be because of their past experiences and perhaps having been repeatedly told that “you will never do this”, “you can never be that”, or similar criticisms that become beliefs embedded in their subconscious mind.

Subconscious memories of this nature can be carried forward into the present so that anyone stating to them that “You are…” may trigger resistance.

The result could be that they would be hesitant to subconsciously accept any statement that tells them to do, be or act in a certain way when worded in the second person perspective.

In such a scenario, a more advisable option would be to avoid using the second person perspective and consider rephrasing the message statement in the first person perspective.

If you knew that the target listener had these issues, it would be preferable to phrase the message statements in a manner such as “I am …” In this way, less resistance may be encountered from their subconscious mind.

Using the Second Person Perspective

It can also be the case that certain individuals do not think about themselves and the target subject in a positive way.

Second Person Perspective Self JudgementThis may arise from frequently repeating to themselves that “I can never be this”, “I will always be that”, or many similar negative statements.

Self-criticism or judgement is perhaps the most powerful form of negative self-programming and regrettably occurs far too frequently with most people.

The result of this can be that such individuals are less receptive to statements worded in the first person.

Being positively complimented and encouraged from another person’s perspective may make them more receptive about being able to achieve the target goal.

For people with this challenge, it would likely be more suitable to use messages stated in the second person, such as “You are successful”.

Mixing Both First and Second Person Perspectives

Including both first and second person message statements in a script is not difficult and strongly suggested.

Mixing First and Second PerspectivesIt is only necessary to create two different versions of each statement, one in the first person, and another from the second person perspective.

It is also important to present them in an alternating manner and this simply means that the initial statement is in the first person perspective and the one following be in the second person perspective.

The order can be reversed if you choose and there is no difference in doing so.

For example, instead of including only a message statement as “I am successful”, it is suggested to follow this with an additional statement in the second person perspective such as “You are successful”.

If a created message script perhaps includes 30 different statements, then just by adding additional statements in the second person perspective would mean that the length of the script would be twice the size, or 60 statements.

The length of your message script is important as are other considerations with regard to using present or future tenses, and addressing sub-themes when designing the message statements.

Messages from the Listener Perspective

Fully understanding the mind of the target listener is almost impossible and consequently, the best option may be to use both first and second person perspectives when writing a message script.

Understanding From Listener PerspectiveThere is no way to be certain that the message script of a recording will be able to help all potential listeners. By targeting one specific type of listener you may be ignoring the other.

All message script creation efforts should be focused on designing a message script so that a balance is achieved.

Creating message script statements with this in mind may help a greater number of people in different scenarios.

This can only serve to make the final recording both more effective and acceptable to the potential audience.
